A Great Location
The little town of Hinckley became popular as the halfway point between the Twin Cities, and Duluth. A small bakery named Tobies marks the site of the old Greyhound Bus stop. Today, Tobies is a large restaurant and bakery that serves thousands of meals and cups of coffee each day. The Country Garden Retreat was built and owned by the previous owners of Tobies. Right next door is the very popular Grand National golf course (tea times and special rates can be arranged), Close by is the Hinckley Fire museum and antique mall. If you are looking for excitement the Grand Casino Hinckley is just down the road. .
Nature abounds around The Country Garden Retreat, even though you are near so many amenities. Guests report seeing bald eagles, hawks, red and Gray fox, possum, porcupine, black bear, beaver, wood ducks and if they are very lucky our Sandhill Cranes may fly by and give their call. A hiking trail starts in our backyard and follows along two beautiful ponds and through the woods.
Just minutes from the Retreat is Minnesota's largest state park; St. Croix River State Park. The park has many trails to walk or bike, you can go on a canoe trip or just picnic by the river. The Banning State park is just minutes north of Hinckley.
